Born and raised in Raleigh, NC! I graduated from North Carolina State University in 1998  with a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Social Work in 1998. I later obtained my Masters of Social Work (MSW) from East Carolina University in 2012. My primary focus for my Masters level education was clinical counseling and substance abuse education.

I am currently pursuing licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA).  I have spent time as a juvenile court counselor, a foster care worker, child protective services supervisor, and teacher before working in private practice.  These experiences have helped shape me into a provider that is comfortable working with all different individual and family presentations, as well as taught me that through authenticity and active listening, connections can be created and maintained. I am particularly passionate about working with teenagers and adults..

I am also trained to deal with the following medical conditions:

  • Anxiety

  • Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

  • Depression

  • Grief/ Loss

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

In addition, I am skilled at working with a variety of human issues facing individuals today, including:

  • Stress

  • Teen Angst

  • Bullying

  • Divorce/Separation

  • Divorce/Separation: child coping with

  • Trauma

  • Separation Anxiety

  • Social Skills

  • Anger Management

  • Bereavement/Grief

  • Conduct/Behavior Problems

  • Parent Coaching, specifically with teens

  • Self Esteem

  • Communication challenges

  • Conflict Resolution

I know that no single approach is the right one for each individual, and so I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address different symptoms like Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive /Disorder, Adjustment Disorders, and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Let us build a trusting and positive therapeutic relationship together.

My approach is influenced by theories like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Family Systems Therapy.I consider myself solution-focused in that I value communication between myself and clients with regards to progress and goals, as well as discussing what is or is not helpful in their experience.
