Emily Osborn - Fuquay-Varina
Intern
A native New Yorker, I have lived in Fuquay Varina since 2020 and think NC is one of the most beautiful places. I have a background in advocating for marginalized populations and creating centers of support for those who are childless by circumstance or who are facing challenges with fertility. Entering the counseling profession was a deeply personal and transformative journey for me, driven by a combination of experiences, values, and aspirations. I am currently an intern working toward my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Appalachian State University. As a master’s student, I am currently under supervision of faculty at Appalachian State University as well as a licensed mental health professional at my current place of Willow Creek Counseling. Upon graduation, I will meet the educational requirements to pursue licensure by the North Carolina Board of Clinical Mental Health Counselors, as well as the Expressive Arts Certificate from the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association ® and Registered Play Therapist ® certification from the Association for Play Therapy.
I have extensive experience treating the following mental health conditions:Â
Perinatal mood disorders
Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
Anxiety and adjustment disorders
Depression and other mood disorders
Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Suicide assessment, intervention, and prevention
In addition, I am also able to help individuals understand and cope with the following issues:
Stress management
Women’s issues
Grief and loss
IUI/IVF process
Parent coaching (Infancy through young adulthood)
Emotional regulation
I will work with you using a person-centered and strengths-based approach, because I respect that you are the expert on your own life. My focus is on building a strong, supportive relationship to help you on your healing journey. I’m confident that you have the strength and potential to overcome your challenges, and I’ll assist you in discovering this potential and developing the skills you need to achieve your goals. We may use methods like Expressive Arts Therapy, Sandplay, or Play Therapy to support your progress. My aim is to create a safe, understanding, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings, learn coping strategies, and work towards your personal and emotional goals.
