“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” - Carl Jung

Though my original background is in Journalism and community organizing, I found my life’s passion at North Carolina Central University in Durham.  I graduated in 2014 with a master’s degree in social work and began my career working with children, parents, and families.

I have been a clinician with Willow Creek Counseling since 2019, and since have been able to refine my training and areas of interest.  Though I am a registered play therapist, I work with “children of all ages”, from three to ninety-three, and I find that my play therapy training has given me deeper insight into the existential realities that we all share and experience.

I have extensive training in working with adults with a focus on the the following areas:

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Depression

  • Existential concerns such as coping with life and developmental stressors

  • Interpersonal relationships and communication skills

  • Experiential therapies such as sandtray (Body-Brain Approach to Sandtray Play Therapy) and art

  • Mindfulness and self-knowledge

  • Self-validation and self-esteem

  • Neurodivergent affirming (AutPlay certified)

  • LGBTQIA+ affirming

Psychodynamic, Jungian depth-psychology, family systems, and person/client-centered theories have all been a great inspiration to me both personally and professionally.  I have found that greater healing occurs when an individual is provided a safe and protected space to explore their own inner worlds and personal narratives.  In addition, I have a strong foundation in cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness strategies, and experiential therapeutic techniques such as play, sand, tarot, and art therapies.

My personal value is to celebrate the inherent worth and dignity of every human being. I find it to be incredibly humbling and powerful to explore and celebrate the strengths and uniqueness inherent within each client with whom I work.

“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” - Carl Jung
