Mike Przybowski

LCMHCA

Originally hailing from New Jersey with a stop in Chicago before calling North Carolina home for the last 24 years, I am a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill with a Master’s Degree in Education-School Counseling. My professional background is extensive and varied; I spent 16 years as a Professional School Counselor and four years as a mental health and medical case manager. Before entering the counseling field, I gained diverse life experience working in sales, technology, banking, manufacturing, and the restaurant industry.

I currently hold an NC LCMHC-A license and provide support to children, teens (ages 5-18), and adults. As a husband of 24 years and a father of two busy teenagers, I bring a grounded, real-world perspective to my work, having also spent years coaching youth sports and navigating the complexities of the public education system.

Areas of Clinical Focus

I provide counseling, coaching, and consultation to help individuals and families reach their relational, career, social, and educational goals. My areas of expertise include:

  • Clinical Conditions: Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Adjustment Disorder, and Trauma/Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).

  • Youth & School Support: School issues and school avoidance, social anxiety, social skills development, and educational consultation.

  • Family & Relationships: Family relationships, marriage and family therapy, and parent coaching for those raising children and teens.

  • Adult & Professional Support: Personal and professional stress management, career-related challenges, and executive functioning.

  • Specialized Care: Grief and loss, faith-based counseling, and suicide prevention and intervention.

Therapeutic Approach

I utilize a flexible, eclectic approach built specifically around your unique background and life journey. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in success, and I prioritize building the trust necessary to walk alongside you or your child. My goal is to uproot the stigma around mental health by engaging clients in an honest, responsible process toward achieving their goals.

My practice integrates several evidence-based modalities and strategies:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

  • Life Coaching and Executive Functioning strategies

  • Mindfulness and Goal Setting

  • Behavior Modification theories
